Pakistan wants Dhaka-Karachi direct flight

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director General of Public Diplomacy Department Taufiq Hasan said that Bangladesh has received a request to start direct flights from Pakistan.

He said this at the weekly briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, November 21 afternoon.

In response to a question about Dhaka-Karachi direct flight, he said, “We have recently received a request from Pakistan.” It is in process. We have sent it to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. It will be updated later.

He said that various Indian media are spreading misinformation about Bangladesh and said that we have informed the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh. I told the Indian authorities that this was not at all desirable in view of the mutual relations between the two countries.

He said that this year’s 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus participated in a total of 25 bilateral meetings where the Rohingya issue was reviewed in almost all cases. Besides, Bangladesh organized a high-level side event in this regard.

There, the Chief Adviser made three proposals, one of which was the call for an All Stakeholders Conference. Most recently, the Chief Adviser sent a letter to the UN Secretary General specifically requesting him to take initiative in this regard.

As a result of this, on Wednesday, November 20th, in the third committee of the United Nations General Assembly, a resolution presented jointly by the OIC and the European Union entitled “The human rights situation of the Rohingya Muslims and other minority communities in Myanmar” was unanimously accepted.

It was co-sponsored by 106 UN member states, reflecting broad international support for the resolution.

He also said that in the resolution, the member states of the United Nations decided to organize a high-level conference by the United Nations in 2025 to adopt an objective and time-bound plan, through a comprehensive review aimed at a sustainable solution to the crisis, including the spontaneous, safe and dignified return of the Rohingya to Myanmar.

The unanimous adoption of this resolution is an important step forward and an expression of the international community’s strong commitment and solidarity towards a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.
